Santo Domingo.– The President of Suriname, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, announced that she will make an official visit to the Dominican Republic starting June 1st, as part of an agenda aimed at strengthening ties between both nations.
During her stay, which will last for two days, the Head of State plans to hold a meeting with the Dominican president, Luis Abinader, with whom she will address various issues of common interest.
Among the points to be discussed are bilateral cooperation initiatives, especially in strategic areas such as trade, economic development, and strengthening diplomatic relations in the region.
The visit takes place at a time when both countries seek to expand their spaces for collaboration and consolidate alliances that contribute to Caribbean growth and integration.
It is expected that at the end of the meeting, possible agreements or joint actions aimed at promoting cooperation between Suriname and the Dominican Republic will be announced.
Furthermore, diplomatic sources indicate that this approach is part of a broader effort to revitalize relations between Caribbean and South American countries, promoting exchanges in investment, tourism, and energy.
In that sense, the president’s agenda could include meetings with representatives from the business sector and local authorities, with the aim of exploring new opportunities for collaboration in key areas for both economies.
The visit also reinforces the interest of both nations in maintaining a permanent dialogue that allows them to face common challenges and seize opportunities on the regional and international stage.
