Granada.- The 112 emergency service of Andalusia has received more than 80 calls due to the 5-magnitude earthquake recorded early this Saturday in Alhendín (Granada), a tremor that has caused various material damages.
Although the National Geographic Institute (IGN) initially estimated the earthquake’s intensity at 4.8 degrees, this agency, which reports to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, has raised the magnitude of the tremor recorded at 1:04 a.m. this Saturday at a depth of 2 kilometers to 5.
According to the 112 emergency service of Andalusia, the earthquake has caused more than 80 calls, reports that have arrived from all the provinces of Andalusia except Huelva and Cadiz.
For the moment, the earthquake has caused landslides, falling facade elements and roofs, as well as damage in different parts of the Granada metropolitan area such as Armilla, where material damage has been recorded.
Impact of the earthquake
The IGN is recording the different points from which the population has felt the effects of the earthquake thanks to reports from residents who have communicated the falling of objects, movement of furniture, or shaking of doors and windows from almost all the municipalities of Granada and its metropolitan area.

This earthquake has also been felt in towns in the north of the province such as Huéscar; in Almuñécar, Salobreña and Motril, on the coast; in the west and in the Alpujarra.
In addition, they have also noticed the tremor in towns in Jaén such as Alcalá la Real, Linares or Jódar; in towns on the coast of Almería such as the capital, Roquetas, El Ejido or Adra, and on the coast of Málaga, from Fuengirola or Torremolinos to Vélez, as well as Córdoba capital.
To the earthquake with its epicenter in Alhendín, a 2.6-magnitude earthquake was added six minutes later, with its epicenter at a depth of one kilometer in Gójar.
