The CNM swears in new judges of the Superior Electoral Tribunal after concluding the evaluation process

Santo Domingo.- The National Council of the Magistracy (CNM), chaired by President Luis Abinader, swore in this Thursday the principal and alternate judges chosen to integrate the Superior Electoral Tribunal, in an act where the institutional commitment to the strengthening of electoral justice and democratic transparency was reaffirmed. The sworn-in judges were: Ygnacio Pascual Camacho Hidalgo, who will continue as its president, Pedro Pablo Yermenos Forastieri, Fernando Fernández Cruz, Rafaelina Peralta Arias and Lenis Rosángela García. Likewise, during the event held in the Ambassadors’ Hall of the National Palace, substitute judges were also sworn in: Lourdes Teresa Salazar, Juan Cuevas, Juan Manuel Martín Garrido, Freddy Ángel Castro and Víctor Rafael Menieur.

During the swearing-in, the legal advisor to the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta, was also present. In total, five principal judges and their respective alternates were selected, for a total of 10. These were chosen by the National Council of the Magistracy after exhausting the evaluation stage of the 41 pre-selected applicants to integrate the Superior Electoral Tribunal, by virtue of the functions conferred upon it by articles 179 and 215 of the Constitution and article 3 of Law number 138-11, which governs the Council. The CNM is composed of President Abinader, who presides over it, the presidents of the Supreme Court of Justice, Luis Henry Molina; of the Constitutional Court, Napoleón Estévez; of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, and of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; the magistrate Nancy Salcedo; the senator Omar Fernández and the deputy Tobías Crespo.
