Norway.– The health status of King Harald of Norway is very serious, the Norwegian Royal House reported this Thursday, August 27, after the monarch remained hospitalized for more than a week due to complications related to hemolytic anemia.
The update was communicated by the Palace through its official page, where it indicated that the condition of the 89-year-old sovereign has deteriorated.
“His Majesty the King’s health has deteriorated”, the institution noted, which subsequently specified that his condition was “very serious”.
Given the situation, Crown Prince Haakon, who is acting as regent, and Queen Sonja canceled the engagements scheduled in their respective agendas.
Subsequently, the Royal House published a new update in which it indicated that the monarch’s condition had not experienced any changes and confirmed the suspension of a trip by Haakon to Færder National Park and another by Queen Sonja to Trøndelag.

This Thursday, Crown Prince Haakon and his wife, Princess Mette-Marit, were seen leaving the Oslo University Hospital, where the monarch has remained admitted since last August 17th.
In the vicinity of the medical center, people also gathered, bringing photographs and portraits as a show of support for the king and the royal family.

The sovereign was admitted due to hemolytic anemia, a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed at a rate faster than the body’s ability to replace them.
According to information previously released by the Royal House, Harald had received cortisone treatment during the previous weeks. As a result, he experienced a fluid buildup in his body that required his hospitalization.
During their stay at the hospital, the doctors also detected a bacterial infection in the blood.
The Palace then reported that the monarch was receiving antibiotics and had responded to the treatment. At that time, his condition was described as stable.
On August 24, three days before the announcement regarding his deterioration, the institution had communicated that there were no significant changes in his condition.
