Mexico City.- The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) fell 0.23% this Wednesday, a movement with which its main indicator, the Price and Quotations Index (IPC), fell to 64,871.7 units, in a day of mixed results in the world markets.

“The capital markets closed the session with mixed results among the main stock market indices globally,” Gabriela Siller, director of Economic and Financial Analysis at Banco Base, told EFE. In Mexico, Siller pointed out, the IPC of the BMV “closed the session with a loss of 0.23% to break a streak of two sessions on the rise”. Inside the Mexican market, the specialist added, the losses of the issuers stood out: Cemex (-2.81%), Televisa (-2.08%), Industrias Peñoles (-1.96%), Grupo México (-1.68%) and Kimberly-Clark (-1.35%). Meanwhile, the director of Economic Analysis at the financial group Actinver, Enrique Covarrubias, explained that the CPI ended the day with a contraction.“With this movement, the accumulated performance at the start of 2026 is at +0.9%. Among the 35 main issuers that make up the index, 13 closed in negative territory,” Covarrubias stated.
In the session, the Mexican peso did not register a percentage variation against the dollar, trading at 17.97 units per greenback, the same level as the previous session, according to data from the Bank of Mexico. The volume traded on the market reached 160 million securities for an amount of 17,160 million pesos (about 955 million dollars). Of the 700 firms that traded during the day, 346 ended with their prices up, 330 had losses, and 24 closed unchanged. The titles with the highest upward variation were from Grupo Financiero Inbursa (GFINBUR O) with 3.21%; from the construction company Vinte Viviendas Integrales (VINTE), with 3.03%, and from the firm Grupo Hotelero Santa Fe (HOTEL), with 2.9%. In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the timber and paper products company Teak (TEAK CPO), with -23.83%; from the oil and gas explorer Vista Oil & Gas (VISTA A), with -4.66%, and from the firm Grupo Bursátil Mexicano (GBM O), with -3.67%.
