Santo Domingo.– The renovated Arena Banreservas Virgilio Travieso Soto reopened its doors after a comprehensive remodeling process that transformed more than 11,200 square meters of infrastructure, consolidating it as one of the most modern sports and entertainment venues in the Caribbean.
n” “nWith a capacity for 8,270 spectators, the venue was completely modernized across its three levels, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and spaces adapted for hosting international sports competitions, concerts, and large-scale shows.
n” “nAmong the main improvements is the installation of a new court certified by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), accompanied by hoops with FIBA Level 1 specifications, which will allow for hosting high-level official tournaments.
n” “nThe arena was also equipped with a high-definition central LED screen with 360-degree viewing, perimeter screens, a professional sound system, and modern lighting designed for television broadcasts, as well as new fixed and retractable seating and accessible restrooms for people with disabilities.

For the benefit of the athletes, the project included the construction of four recovery rooms, four player locker rooms, four individual referee locker rooms, four coach offices, and a fully equipped infirmary, raising the standards of care and preparation during events.

One of the most notable aspects of the renovation is its HVAC system, consisting of three 400-ton chillers each and 20 air handling units, which provide a total capacity of 1,200 tons of cooling, ensuring optimal conditions for athletes, artists, and spectators.

In addition, seven suites were built, including one for the press, two exclusive boxes —Presidential and VIP— and a modern Press Room equipped for the coverage of national and international events.
