Karina Suárez, a member of ‘The Suárez’ family clan in Uruguay, had three of her children killed in the quintuple homicide that took place in Uruguay this Friday. She is one of the survivors of the attack: she was in the house when the four criminals arrived, ready to gun down everyone who was there.
Five people—including a 14-year-old teenager—died following that shooting, explained by a “long-standing” criminal dispute in the area, as stated by Interior Minister Carlos Negro.
The criminals arrived at the house pretending to be police officers and entered every room to shoot at whoever they found. There were seven people in total in the house. Among them was Karina, who hid under a bed, as she recounted in an interview with Canal 10’s Subrayado news program.

His three children were murdered: one of them was 28 years old and the other two were 18-year-old twins. The other people murdered were a 14-year-old teenager –who was one of the young men’s girlfriends– and a 38-year-old woman, the mother of this minor.

“Obviously I’m tired. They carried out a massacre with my three children, with my daughter-in-law’s mother, with my daughter-in-law. They raided my house, they turned my whole house upside down with the dead bodies inside. They don’t have a shred of shame,” said Suárez in the television interview.
The woman commented that she was preparing to move out of the place and was taking her belongings from the house “little by little.” She was waiting for a precautionary measure that her children were under to end in order to finalize the move, as she recounted. On the 18th, those measures were set to end, and the family had decided to wait until the 23rd to leave.

“I told the prosecutor: ‘I have to leave, I have to save my children. They are going to carry out a human slaughter.’ I warned him! I told him that these people are offering money for my children’s heads and for my head. They want to carry out a slaughter,” recounted Suárez.
“I kept saying: ‘I have to go, they are going to kill us, they already know where we live.’ They already know everything. We have no life, we don’t go out. The neighbors run errands for us because we had already received threats that they were going to kill us,” she added.
Suárez said, through tears, that she now asks for Justice to be served. And then she asked herself: “Justice for what? I already buried four children before. They killed seven of my children! What Justice am I going to ask for now? Let them kill me!”, she added.

Another question kept resonating with the woman: “Why didn’t I leave the damn room, they would have killed me and I would have gone with my children?”.
Suárez said he was saved thanks to his dogs. “When they came in saying ‘raid,’ they kicked and I heard many shots. I thought it was the cops shooting rubber bullets. They didn’t enter my room and I threw myself under the bed. And the dogs attacked so they wouldn’t come in because there is no light in my room,” he recounted.
Karina Suárez has only one son left alive, who has been hospitalized for several years due to a cognitive disability, reported Montevideo Portal. The first was murdered 10 years ago. In 2023, Ezequiel was killed at his front door; one of the most recently deceased was the one nicknamed El Mudo, and later Pepe. Sebastián, Misael, and Brayan were murdered this Friday.

The victims were members of the Los Suárez gang, a criminal group that operated a few years ago in the Villa Española neighborhood, located about 15 kilometers from El Monarca. This family clan had had several conflicts in their previous area with Los Albín, another criminal gang that disputes the drug-dealing territory.
