The Data Affecting the GDP of the United States
In the third quarter, consumption in the first economy held steady at an annualized increase of 3.5%, as did public spending, which rose 2.2%, the same level as the first estimate. Defense spending was revised down by a tenth, to 5.7%, although it remains among the fastest-growing sectors, in line with the policy of President Donald Trump’s government to strengthen the country’s military power.
This points to the effect caused by the so-called «reciprocal tariffs» that Trump himself announced in April as a pillar of his trade war.

The first GDP data for the fourth quarter will be delayed, now scheduled for next February 20, according to the entity’s calendar.
