Santo Domingo. – The Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technification (TNR) showcased to representatives of ProChile and the Irrigation and Drainage Trade Association (AGRYD) the investment and collaboration opportunities existing in the irrigation sector of the Dominican Republic, during a virtual meeting aimed at the exchange of experiences and technical knowledge.
The presentation was led by Claudio Caamaño Vélez, director of the TNR, who highlighted the potential of the Dominican agricultural sector as a strategic platform to strengthen cooperation between producers and companies from Chile and the Dominican Republic, with the aim of identifying opportunities for Chilean companies to contribute their technical capabilities and experience, in partnership with national companies, contributing to the development and modernization of the agricultural sector.
Likewise, he emphasized the possibility for Chilean producers and investors to establish agricultural projects in the country, taking advantage of the benefits offered by the climatic conditions, geographic diversity, and preferential access to international markets through the free trade agreements available to the Dominican Republic, thus favoring greater competitiveness and sustainable growth of agricultural production.
In his speech, the head of TNR presented the operation of the Registry of Authorized Suppliers, a tool through which the TNR certifies and enables companies that provide equipment, supplies, and services linked to irrigation modernization and sustainable agriculture. Additionally, alternatives were analyzed to strengthen the technical capabilities related to the installation of modern irrigation systems in Dominican territory.
Caamaño Vélez highlighted that this mechanism strengthens the transparency of institutional processes, guarantees quality standards for suppliers, and generates greater trust among producers participating in programs promoted by the institution, such as the National Irrigation Technification Promotion Fund (Fotesir).

The suppliers, Chilean products at the virtual meeting, also learned about the Dominican experience in areas such as irrigation systems, hydraulic infrastructure, agricultural automation, renewable energy, and other technologies aimed at optimizing the use of water resources in the field. They also expressed their interest in visiting the country before the end of the year.
This meeting with ProChile and the Irrigation and Drainage Association (AGRYD) is part of the TNR international cooperation strategy to strengthen institutional capacities, promote innovation, and consolidate alliances that contribute to the development of the Dominican agricultural sector and the country’s goal.
