Santo Domingo.- As part of the preparations for the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the National Student Transportation System (TRAE) is carrying out the distribution of 29 buses in different communities across the country, with the purpose of strengthening the school mobility service and guaranteeing the safe, free, and dignified transport of the more than two million students who will return to the classrooms this coming August 24.
The expansion of the fleet responds to the commitment made by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, to continue raising the quality of educational services and strengthening the National Student Transportation System as a fundamental tool to guarantee students’ access to educational centers under conditions of safety and efficiency.
With these additions, TRAE continues to strengthen its operational capacity. Currently, the system has a fleet of 1,871 buses that provide service in the 31 provinces and the National District, benefiting thousands of students daily throughout the national territory.
The distribution of the new units covers various locations prioritized according to service needs. In the community of La Ureña, in Santo Domingo Este, three buses were incorporated; while in the municipality of El Pino, Dajabón province, two units were delivered.
In the María Trinidad Sánchez province, three buses were assigned to the municipality of Cabrera, two to the municipality of El Factor, and two to Nagua. Likewise, one bus was incorporated for the Capotillo community.

In the Southern region, TRAE will have two buses available for Nizao; one bus for Las Charcas, in Azua; another for Estebanía, also in Azua, and one unit for the municipality of El Cercado, in the San Juan province.
In Greater Santo Domingo, two buses were delivered for the Las Cañitas sector, in addition to four units destined for communities with students at the Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro Military School, of the Dominican Republic Armed Forces. Likewise, two buses will be incorporated in Villa Altagracia, two in Bonao, and one unit in Ciudad Modelo.
These actions are part of the operational strengthening plan being developed by the Ministry of Education, through TRAE, to ensure that, from the first day of school, students have access to a timely, safe, and efficient transportation service, contributing to reducing school dropout rates, alleviating the economic burden on families, and guaranteeing better conditions for learning.
