According to reports, a semi-truck struck workers who were performing maintenance and caused a multi-vehicle collision with a fire on the Guadalajara-Tepic highway this July 12. Preliminary information indicates a toll of around 16 fatalities, in addition to the injured.
The magnitude of the result changes between preliminary versions: first, 6 injured were reported, but more recent reports place the figure near 16 dead, with several wounded and missing persons. The authorities have not taken a position on this matter.
For its part, the National Guard Highways reported that there is a total closure due to the road accident in Jalisco, at kilometer 066+500 of the Guadalajara-Tepic highway, near the Plan de Barrancas Toll Booth, in the direction of the capital of Nayarit, according to the highway authority’s posts on X.
The corporation asked to follow traffic signs and take precautions when driving through the area. As an alternate route, the National Guard Highways recommended using the Guadalajara-Tepic Free Highway. Emergency services are already attending to the incident.
According to the highway account, traffic is moving at a slow pace towards Guadalajara in the slow lane, while personnel work at the scene.

In a previous operation in Huajicori, security forces detained 20 hitmen and seized 12 long guns, 3,500 cartridges, 75 magazines, and eight improvised explosive devices.
Five state police officers from Nayarit were wounded on July 10 in an ambush near Pachecos, in Huajicori, a mountainous area where the drug cartel dispute had already caused the displacement of 33 communities and around 100 families.
The attack occurred in a municipality that had already experienced a recent day of armed conflict. In a previous operation in Huajicori, security forces detained 20 hitmen and seized 12 long guns, more than 3,500 cartridges, 75 magazines, and eight improvised explosive devices.
The five injured agents received specialized medical attention and, as of the time of this publication, their condition remains stable.
The Government of Nayarit reported that, under the instructions of Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, comprehensive medical care was provided to the injured personnel. The state administration ensured services and resources for their recovery.
Following the aggression, state and federal authorities maintained a coordinated operation to locate and arrest those who allegedly participated in the attack. The State Police, the Secretariat of National Defense, and the National Guard intervened in these actions.
The aggression against the police officers was recorded in an area where another armed confrontation had already broken out days earlier. On March 17, the municipal seat of Huajicori experienced clashes between the CJNG, allied with Los Chapitos, and the Los Mayos faction for control of the territory.

The state agency maintained that, as of the July 3rd cutoff, it has not detected an atypical increase in diseases that can be directly linked to the quality of the water distributed in the metropolis. The Jalisco Secretary of Health, Héctor Raúl Pérez Gómez, also reported that monitoring is ongoing.
