Washington.- U.S. President Donald Trump announced this Wednesday that Iran allowed the departure from the country of a U.S. citizen who, he stated, was “unjustly” detained in December 2024.
In a message posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump thanked what he described as a “gesture of goodwill” from Iran and noted that the United States celebrates that the citizen has been able to leave the country.
The president did not identify the woman, nor did he offer details about the circumstances of her detention or the diplomatic efforts that allowed for her release.

The White House has not yet reported independently on the release, nor has it provided additional details about the case.
The detention of U.S. citizens in Iran has been a point of tension between Washington and Tehran for years, with several cases of Americans held under accusations that the U.S. government considers unjust.
