Trump signs law to force the publication of the Epstein files

Washington.- United States President Donald Trump announced this Wednesday through his Truth Social account that he signed the bill ordering the Department of Justice (DOJ) to publish all its files related to Jeffrey Epstein. “The Democrats have used the Epstein issue, which affects them much more than the Republican Party, to try to divert attention from our INCREDIBLE victories,” was the message with which the president accompanied the news of having ratified the bill, one day after Congress ordered it to be sent to his desk. The bill, formally known as the Epstein Archives Transparency Act, was passed by the House of Representatives on Tuesday with a vote of 427 in favor and only 1 against, showing almost unanimous support for the legislative effort. The Senate unanimously approved it without the need for a new vote and sent it to the White House, thanks to a motion that was presented by the leader of the Democratic minority, Chuck Schumer.

Despite Trump’s signature, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced this Wednesday that the Department of Justice had up to 30 days to release the files in their entirety. The law comes after more than four years of transparency claims by the Trump opposition, as well as the families of Epstein’s victims, who seek that the publication allows to evidence possible accomplices and criminal responsibilities. The law advanced because last week a group of Democrats from the Lower House advanced about 20,000 new files that included emails where the deceased pedophile claimed that Trump knew about his crimes and that he had in fact spent “hours” with one of the victims in his mansion. The Republican leader has been annoyed by the accusations against him related to the Epstein case, to the point that last Friday he ordered a reporter to shut up and called her “piggy” when she asked him about the files that possibly involve him with victims.
