U.S. aircraft carrier arrives in the Caribbean amid tensions with Cuba
Washington.- The United States Army deployed the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and its strike group in the Caribbean Sea, in an operation that takes place amid the increase in tensions between Washington and Havana, reported this Wednesday the United States Southern Command.
The deployment includes the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, its embarked air wing, and escort and support ships, as part of Southern Command operations in its area of responsibility in the region.
According to the official announcement, the arrival of the attack group seeks to reinforce the US military presence and its operational capacity in the Caribbean, in a context of increasing diplomatic and political pressure on Cuba.
