Washington.— The United States Army announced the destruction of three other boats allegedly loaded with drugs during an attack carried out on December 30 in international waters, as part of the military operation called Southern Spear.
According to the U.S. Southern Command, the action left at least three people dead and is part of Washington’s efforts to combat drug trafficking in maritime areas near Venezuela and Colombia. The operation also aims to put pressure on the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
In a message posted on the social network X, Southern Command indicated that the attack occurred in international waters, although it did not specify whether it occurred in the southern Caribbean Sea or the eastern Pacific. Since September, U.S. forces have destroyed around 35 similar vessels in these regions.

According to official information, United States intelligence services confirmed that the three boats were traveling along known drug trafficking routes and had transferred narcotics between them before being attacked. The announcement was accompanied by a video in which the vessels are seen sailing together and in the same direction.
