Washington.— The United States Army reported that it destroyed three other vessels that allegedly transported drugs in an attack that left at least three people dead, as part of its military operation called Southern Spear.
The action was carried out on December 30 in international waters, according to the U.S. Southern Command in a message posted on the social network X. It was not specified whether the bombing took place in the southern Caribbean Sea or in the eastern Pacific, where around 35 vessels of this type have been destroyed since September.
U.S. forces indicated that intelligence services confirmed that the three boats were traveling on known drug trafficking routes and had transferred narcotics among themselves before the attacks. The message was accompanied by a video showing the vessels sailing together in the same direction.
The attack is part of Operation South Spear, aimed at combating drug trafficking in the region and pressuring the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
