Puerto Plata.- The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) conferred degrees upon 1,768 new undergraduate and graduate professionals this Sunday during its graduation ceremony for the Northern Region, held in Puerto Plata and dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the patriotic feat of June 14, 1959.
Of the total number of graduates, 1,372 correspond to the undergraduate level and 396 to postgraduate programs, coming from the Santiago and San Francisco de Macorís campuses, as well as the university centers of Mao, Nagua, Bonao, Puerto Plata, and La Vega.
The Faculty of Education Sciences concentrated the highest number of undergraduate graduates with 906 professionals, followed by Economic and Social Sciences with 194, Health Sciences with 83, and Humanities with 74. At the postgraduate level, Humanities topped the list with 107 graduates, followed by Education Sciences with 81 and Economic and Social Sciences with 61.
During the ceremony, students with the highest academic averages were also recognized. In the undergraduate category, Elisanna Torres Rodríguez, from the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality, obtained an average of 96.3 points, while in the graduate category, Anyi Mariela Alberto Castillo, from the Master’s Degree in Educational Center Management, was distinguished with an average of 97.21 points.

The event was led by the university rector, Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, who urged the new professionals to practice with social responsibility and to turn the knowledge acquired into tools of transformation for the country.

Beltrán also highlighted the careers of the Dominican ambassador to Italy, Rafael Antonio Lantigua Ciriaco, and pediatric endocrinologist Jonanlis Ramírez Alcántara, both graduates of the UASD, whom he presented as examples of the national and international impact of the education offered by the state university.
