Ukraine redefines its air defense with interceptor drones in the face of the threat of new Russian attacks

Kiev. – The Government of Ukraine announced a strategic restructuring of its air defense system with the aim of addressing the threat of new massive attacks by Russia, incorporating the use of interceptor drones and mobile rapid response units. Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, reported that this new strategy seeks to increase operational flexibility and reduce the country’s vulnerability to coordinated attacks with missiles and drones. The redesign contemplates a more dynamic approach, based on mobile fire groups, short-range defense systems, and unmanned technology for aerial interception. “There will be a new approach to the use of air defense by the Air Force, related to interceptor drones and other modern means of protection,” Zelensky said, while emphasizing that the current system will be transformed to respond more effectively to emerging threats.
