The Ultramegamusic Festival turned Santo Cerro de La Vega, the Amado Franco Bidó park in Mao, Valverde, and the municipal court of Jarabacoa into true epicenters of Dominican music, with five concerts in three days that ignited the celebration of the Virgen de las Mercedes, the closing of the Barranquiteños Games in honor of the heroes of the Battle of La Barranquita and the cultural week for the 167th anniversary of the founding of Jarabacoa. The programming brought together Fernando Villalona, Eddy Herrera, Luis Miguel del Amargue, Jandy Ventura, El Blachy, Químico Ultramega and Yuri Swing, in a tour that included merengue, bachata, typical merengue and urban fusions, managing to convene children, youth and adult audiences. The institutional support of President Luis Abinader and the backing of Banreservas were decisive for the realization of the festival. Producer Luis Medrano highlighted that Ultramegamusic brings together the main genres of Dominican musical identity on the same stage and demonstrates the cultural and economic impact of these events on the communities. Among the highlights were the concert of Fernando Villalona’s greatest hits with a high response from the public, the precise and energetic presentation of Eddy Herrera, the repertoire sung from beginning to end by Luis Miguel del Amargue, the romantic merengue proposal of El Blachy, the wide intergenerational acceptance of Químico Ultramega, the versatility of Yuri Swing between bachata, typical merengue, bolero and orchestra merengue, and the merengue closing with great energy of Jandy Ventura along with El Legado. The production included state-of-the-art stage design, international standard sound and lighting, and a large-format LED screen, consolidating Ultramegamusic as a platform for Dominican music, its traditions, and its new fusions.
The event also generated direct and indirect jobs, boosted consumption in the entertainment value chain, and strengthened local tax collection, favoring the sustainability of cultural projects. The organizing committees and the different municipalities expressed their gratitude to the authorities, artists, technical teams, security, volunteers, and communities for their valuable collaboration.
