With more than one hundred athletes, Félix Sánchez organizes an unofficial evaluation check-up for Santo Domingo 2026

With the participation of more than one hundred athletes, the double Olympic champion Félix Sánchez organized an unofficial athletics check-up as part of the evaluation process within the preparation of Dominican athletes, with a view to the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. The check-up was carried out last Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Bayaguana, Monte Plata province, and had the collaboration of the outstanding coach José Rubio, along with the participation of his athletes, as well as the renowned athlete and now coach in San Pedro de Macorís, Gustavo Cuesta, and Franklin Leyba, coach of Bayaguana. Among the most outstanding athletes of the country who participated in this day were Olympic medalists Alexander Ogando and Lidio Feliz, both members of the Félix Sánchez Academy, in addition to the Olympic athletes Yancarlos Martínez, Yeral Núñez and Yohandris Andújar. Also part of the check-up were Milagros Durán, Bianka Acosta, Robert King, Melbin Marcelino, Estrella De Aza, Patricia Sine and the emerging star, champion of the Junior Pan American Games, Liranyi Alonzo.

During the unofficial check, competition took place in the 500-meter, 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash, 300-meter, 600-meter, 1,000-meter, and 150-meter events, in the men’s and women’s categories, as appropriate for each modality. The athletes expressed feeling very satisfied with this initiative, which allowed them to evaluate themselves in preparation for a season that is just beginning. During the activity, they received words of motivation from Félix Sánchez, who expressed feeling pleased with the results obtained and grateful to the coaches who joined their academies in this important process. Currently, Félix Sánchez works with a large group of athletes in athletics who are part of the national preparation process for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, consolidating this type of check-up as a key tool in the development and evaluation of Dominican athletics. Sánchez reported that in the coming days the academy team will be departing for training bases and competitions in Europe, as part of the international preparation plan, from where an important group of athletes is projected to join the national athletics team for Santo Domingo 2026.
