Yan Carlos Martínez offers details on the preliminary hearing progress of the Jet Set case

Santo Domingo. – The victims’ lawyer, Yan Carlos Martínez, informed that this Monday the participation of the affected parties and their legal representatives in the preliminary hearing of the Jet Set case concluded, where the main arguments were presented before the court. Martínez explained that, according to the expert report, the collapse of the establishment’s roof occurred due to a 126% overload, in addition to the lack of maintenance and structural modifications made on the premises. The jurist emphasized that the process is not about “who tells a better story”, but about establishing the truth of the facts.

In that regard, he reiterated the importance of reviewing the legal qualification of the case, pointing out that the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court of Justice contemplates the figure of eventual intent within voluntary manslaughter, so they seek to impose the maximum penalty. He also indicated that it will be this Friday when the defendants present their conclusions, in a key stage that will define the course of the judicial process.
