Young man injured after traffic accident; driver flees the scene in Ciudad Nueva

Santo Domingo.– A young man was injured this Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene of the accident, in an incident that occurred on Belier Street, near Plaza Juan Barón and the Ciudad Nueva Palace of Justice, where he was assisted by units from the 911 National Emergency and Security Attention System.

After receiving the alert, 911 personnel arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the injured person. Subsequently, the young man was immobilized on a stretcher and transported by ambulance to a health center to receive medical attention.

During the operation, agents from the National Police and the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (DIGESETT) also participated, collaborating in assisting the injured person and controlling traffic in the area.

According to accounts provided by people present at the scene, the driver of the vehicle involved fled immediately after the impact, without providing assistance to the affected person.

At the scene remained a scooter that was allegedly being driven by the young accident victim, while a relative requested to be allowed to accompany him during the transfer to the health center.

So far, the authorities have not reported on the identity of the injured person, their state of health, or the circumstances that caused the accident. No official information has been offered regarding the whereabouts of the driver who witnesses claim fled the scene after the collision.
