Young woman found alive in apartment where mother and son died in Piantini is interrogated

Santo Domingo.– The National Police reported this Friday that the young woman who survived the incident that occurred in an apartment at the Arpel 07 Tower, in the Piantini sector, National District, where a woman and her son were found lifeless, has been questioned.

It is Caroline Milagros Pérez, 22 years old, who remained admitted under medical observation after presenting an alleged poisoning from food intake. Her statement is considered fundamental to reconstruct the events and determine what happened inside the home.

The spokesperson for the law enforcement institution, Diego Pesqueira, explained that the young woman has already been interviewed by the prosecutor in charge of the investigation, as part of the process to clarify the case.

The victims were identified as Raisa Luisa Mendoza, 50, and her son Yadhir Nael Cornelio, 24. Both were found without vital signs inside the apartment located in the aforementioned residential tower.

Pesqueira indicated that technicians from the Ministry of Public Health, members of the Fire Department, and other specialized agencies continue to carry out the corresponding surveys at the scene.

“Investigations are being expanded; we will be able to offer more details in due course once the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) releases the autopsy results to us,” stated the police spokesperson.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred on Thursday evening, after the survivor, who is said to be the romantic partner of the deceased young man, shared a dinner with the victims at a restaurant in Boca Chica.

So far, the authorities have not officially established the causes of the deaths nor have they put forward hypotheses about what happened, pending forensic analyses and other investigative proceedings.

The case has generated dismay and expectation in public opinion, while relatives and loved ones await answers that will allow clarifying the circumstances in which mother and son lost their lives.
