Santo Domingo Este.– José Luis, alias “Che”, identified as the accomplice of the alleged perpetrator of the death of the Dominican Republic Air Force (FARD) officer, José Aníbal Espinosa, surrendered voluntarily to the authorities this Tuesday.
The delivery was carried out peacefully with the accompaniment of members of the Human Rights Committee, the president of the community neighborhood board, and his brother, identified as Juan.

In offering his version of events, José Luis claimed that he became involved in the incident after going out to socialize and have a beer with a man known only as “el Menor”, whom authorities identify as the alleged shooter.
The detainee stated that he was unaware that his companion was carrying a firearm and denied having any knowledge that the encounter would end in a violent incident.
“If I had known all of that, I wouldn’t have gone out with that person,” she expressed during her statement, while maintaining that she did not have a close relationship with the alleged murderer.
The authorities are keeping the investigation open to determine the degree of involvement of each of those implicated in the event that has caused consternation among the residents of the Nuevo Amanecer sector, in Santo Domingo East.
Meanwhile, the National Police reported that they continue the search for the alleged perpetrator of the crime, who remains a fugitive.
The fact
According to versions provided by witnesses, the incident occurred when a man driving a vehicle, accompanied by another person, got out to move a motorcycle that was obstructing the path and preventing a turn on the road.

The action reportedly triggered an argument with several people who were at the scene. In the midst of the altercation, Air Force officer José Aníbal Espinosa intervened and was struck by four bullets. One of the shots also grazed his son.
The soldier was rushed to a health center, where he remained hospitalized for several days until he passed away due to his injuries.
