Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Interior and Police reported this Thursday on the dismantling of a clandestine factory dedicated to the production and commercialization of adulterated alcoholic beverages in the municipal district of Barrera, Azua province, as a result of coordinated actions to combat illicit trade and protect the health of the population.
The operation was executed by the Specialized Corps for Fuel Control and Merchandise Trade (CECCOM), following complaints channeled by the Ministry of Interior and Police through the Citizen Complaints directorate, which allowed for the identification of the location where this structure was operating illegally.

During the intervention, 106 tanks with a 55-gallon capacity were found, containing approximately 25,440 liters of a substance in the process of fermentation, presumably clerén or triculí. Due to the difficult access to the location, the authorities proceeded to destroy the liquid and disable the containers, preventing the product from being distributed or marketed.
The Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, stated that these actions reflect the Government’s commitment to the protection of the life, health, and safety of citizens.

Likewise, he recalled that these practices violate General Health Law No. 42-01 and Law No. 17-19 on the Eradication of Illicit Trade, Smuggling, and Counterfeiting of Regulated Products, which is why the competent institutions will continue to carry out intelligence, inspection, and intervention operations throughout the national territory.
The Ministry of Interior and Police urged the population to report any activity that poses a risk to collective health and safety.
