Barahona. – The Southern Regional Directorate, the National Police dismantled a clandestine factory for adulterated alcoholic beverages in the municipality of Vicente Noble and recovered a motorcycle that was listed as stolen in police records.
During an intervention in some vacant lots in Vicente Noble, agents located a clandestine laboratory used for the illegal manufacture of adulterated rum, popularly known as clerén. At the site, nine tanks containing a yellowish liquid, five large jugs, as well as hoses, containers, and other utensils used for the production and storage of the substance were seized.
By order of the competent authorities, the content was destroyed and dumped on the ground to prevent its commercialization and to avoid health risks to the population.
The institution recalled that the manufacture, distribution, and commercialization of adulterated alcoholic beverages constitutes a violation of General Health Law No. 42-01 and Law No. 17-19 on the Eradication of Illicit Trade, Smuggling, and Counterfeiting of Regulated Products, which sanction these practices for representing a serious danger to public health.
In another preventive action carried out in the municipality of Cabral, 21-year-old Randy Feliz was detained for investigation purposes while traveling on a red DT-125 motorcycle. Upon being verified in the police systems, the motorcycle appeared with a theft report dating back to 1998.

The detainee and the recovered vehicle were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes, while investigations into the case continue.
