Emilio Contreras is appointed as the new General Manager of Edeeste
Santo Domingo. – The Unified Council of Distribution Companies (CUED) announced the appointment of engineer Emilio Contreras as the new General Manager of the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste), as part of a process of institutional continuity aimed at preserving operational stability and strengthening the strategic management of the company.
This designation comes after the resignation of Mr. Mario Pizarro, who is concluding a cycle at the head of the distributor after making significant contributions to the processes of organization and institutional strengthening. The Council explained that its decision is due to the need to attend to commitments and personal matters in his country of origin, which makes his permanence in the position impossible.
Emilio Contreras is an Electrical Engineer graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), with a Master’s in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Quebec in Montreal. He also has international certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and PM4R-Expert from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Contreras has over 25 years of national and international experience, both in the public and private sectors, excelling in the implementation of transmission and distribution electrical infrastructure programs and projects, the development of renewable electricity generation facilities, and the execution of energy loss reduction programs.
He has served as a consultant on energy projects financed by multilateral organizations such as the World Bank, the IDB, the OPEC Fund for International Development, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Within his professional career, the management of operations, process improvement, auditing and energy efficiency plans are also highlighted, as well as the design and engineering of electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure, skills that the Council valued as key to continue promoting efficiency, transparency and quality of service at EDEEste.
