Santiago.- A 21-year-old Haitian man who, according to his relatives, went out to collect a small debt, has died after spending approximately a month admitted to the José María Cabral y Báez Regional University Hospital, where he underwent four surgeries for a stab wound that had perforated his intestine during a conflict that occurred in the Los Solares sector of Bella Vista, Santiago.

The victim was identified as Robinson Paulemile, who passed away early this Sunday at the aforementioned health center, where he remained admitted due to the severity of his injuries.

According to Gabo Jhon Weslyde, the victim’s brother, his relative made a living by lending small amounts of money and went to the area to collect a debt. What should have been a collection ended in a violent confrontation.

The relative indicated that, during the argument, a woman allegedly took a bladed weapon and attacked the young Haitian man, causing a deep wound that affected his internal organs.

Young Haitian hospitalized

The injury forced doctors to perform surgery on Paulemile four times. However, despite the efforts made to save him, his health condition deteriorated until his passing.

Jhon Weslyde stated that another brother of the young man was also attacked during the same conflict and received a machete blow to the neck, although he survived the assault.

Family members demand justice

After the death, the relatives demanded that the case not be filed away or remain unpunished.

They claim to have filed a complaint with the authorities and question why the individuals they point to as alleged perpetrators remain at liberty.

“Those involved are there, they haven’t moved, they are at home calmly,” denounced a relative, while demanding concrete actions from the National Police and the Public Ministry.

The relatives demanded that the investigations be deepened, that it be established who participated in the aggression, and that the arrest and prosecution of those responsible proceed, if the investigation so determines.

Those close to him described the deceased as a quiet, hardworking young man who stayed away from conflict. They stated that he did not smoke or consume alcoholic beverages and that his main activity was lending small sums of money to earn an income.

The family, who claims to have been living in Los Solares de Bella Vista for more than 14 years, now faces the pain of the loss of the young Haitian man while demanding answers from the authorities.

The case remains under investigation and the relatives hope that Paulemile’s death will not go unpunished and that the authorities will determine precisely how the assault occurred, which, after approximately a month of hospitalization and four surgical interventions, ended up causing his death.
