Santo Domingo.– The Public Ministry requested pretrial detention against Lenin Jhericop Núñez de León, charged with the death of Emmanuel Contreras Medina, who passed away last September 9 after remaining several days in intensive care as a result of the wounds he received during an incident that occurred on July 1 at a baseball field in the Los Praditos sector, in the National District.
The request was filed with the Judicial Office of Permanent Care Services of the National District by the Department of Crimes and Offenses against the Person (Homicides) of the National District Prosecutor’s Office, represented by prosecutor Vladimir Viloria.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Núñez de León does not have sufficient ties to the community to rule out the risk of flight, an argument that supports the request for pretrial detention. The Prosecutor’s Office points out that, after the incident occurred, the accused left the country.
According to the file, Núñez de León was arrested on September 11, 2026 at the Las Américas International Airport (AILA), by virtue of an arrest warrant issued against him.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office provisionally attributes to him the violation of articles 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code, related to voluntary homicide.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that during the investigation, testimonies, a medical certificate, the death scene report, WhatsApp conversations, and security camera videos related to the incident were incorporated.
It is now up to the court to hear the request and determine the coercive measure that will be imposed on the defendant.
