Médico Express strengthens Emergency care in SDE with infrastructure, technology, and a humanized approach

The Urgencias de Médico Express service is consolidated as a strategic response to the growing demand for timely care in this demarcation, integrating modern infrastructure, highly specialized personnel, and cutting-edge diagnostic technology. Dr. Josué Hernández, medical director of the center, explained that the area has two differentiated emergency rooms, one for adults and one for pediatrics, with independent entrances and 22 evaluation stations, designed to offer organized, dignified, and efficient care. He highlighted that the service is provided directly by emergency medicine doctors for adults and pediatricians specializing in Pediatric Emergency and Pediatric Critical Care, supported by a trained nursing team and more than 30 medical specialties available for consultation.

The specialist specified that the area is structured to stabilize critical patients, equipped with a crash cart, defibrillators, ventilators, and spaces distributed according to the complexity of the case. Likewise, the center applies the Manchester Scale, approved by the Ministry of Public Health, to prioritize cases through a triage system that guarantees immediate attention to those who present life-threatening conditions. In diagnostic terms, Médico Express has imaging studies ranging from simple X-rays to CT scans and MRIs with state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, it has an internal laboratory in partnership with Amadita, whose emergency results are delivered in less than an hour, speeding up clinical decision-making. Dr. Hernández indicated that the majority of patients, classified as low complexity, are evaluated within the first 10 minutes of their arrival, completing their care process in an average of two hours. He affirmed that they work under management indicators that directly impact response times and prioritize humanized care at each stage of the process. In the event hospitalization is required, the internal protocol establishes initial stabilization in the emergency room and the subsequent coordination of transfer to allied centers, always taking into account the patient’s and their family’s opinion. The area operates under strict patient safety protocols, aligned with the International Safety Goals and supported by Global Health Accreditation certification, being the only center in the Caribbean and Central America with this recognition, which guarantees the quality and safety of its processes. Likewise, the center has an Emergency Plan and a Rapid Response Team prepared to act in the event of high-demand events or extraordinary situations within the facilities. Finally, the medical director reiterated his call to the population to seek timely medical attention in the face of warning signs.
