Mother asks for help to operate on her baby in Argentina

The mother of a nearly two-year-old boy suffering from a complex congenital heart disease has made a desperate plea to the First Lady of the Republic, Raquel Arbaje, for financial assistance to transport her son to Argentina, where he needs to undergo surgery valued at 47,000 dollars.

Amanda Corporal explained that her baby was diagnosed with pulmonary atresia and a condition related to major aortopulmonary collateral arteries, which is why he requires a specialized intervention that, she claims, cannot currently be performed at any health center in the country.

The woman reported that since August 17th, a communication was sent to the first lady, through a foundation, requesting collaboration to cover the medical procedure, but she asserts that she has not yet received a definitive response.

Mother reports lack of response to request for help

Corporal reported that, given the lack of a response, he decided to communicate directly with the Presidency of the Republic to inquire about the status of his request.

As explained, during the call they informed him/her that the communication had been received and subsequently forwarded to the Social Management area.

However, upon contacting that department, they indicated that the document remained there without a response.

The mother expressed her concern about the time that has passed and stated that she needs to know if she will be able to count on the requested support to continue looking for other alternatives.

“At least tell me that you are not going to help me, because if you tell me no, then I know that I have to keep knocking on another door,” he/she expressed.

The woman stated that she has made other efforts to obtain the necessary resources, but insisted that she needs a response from the authorities due to her son’s health condition.

Baby shows a decrease in oxygen levels

One of the aspects that worries Amanda Corporal the most is the deterioration that, according to her account, her baby’s oxygen saturation has experienced over the last few months.

He explained that when he made the request for help, the child had saturation levels between 87% and 89%.

However, he assured that these values have currently fallen to below 80%.

The mother believes that this situation increases the urgency of obtaining the financial resources and coordinating the minor’s transfer to Argentina.

“I want to know what else has to happen for me to receive help,” he stated during his public appeal.

The saturation values and the diagnosis correspond to the mother’s testimony and have not been verified with a medical report in the information provided.

Request $47,000 for surgery in Argentina

According to Corporal, the budget for the procedure his son needs amounts to 47,000 dollars, an amount that the family is seeking to raise with the help of institutions and supportive individuals.

The mother maintained that she has tried to manage the collaboration through institutional channels and that her intention is to obtain the treatment the child needs.

He also reiterated that he continues to seek support from other entities, while awaiting a response from the first lady and the corresponding government agencies.

Mother leads call to the first lady

In the final part of her statement, Amanda Corporal insisted that her request is motivated by the need to preserve her son’s life.

He/She assured that he/she has gone through the appropriate channels and expects to receive a response, regardless of whether the aid may be approved or rejected.

“I am doing it through the appropriate channels, I am doing it without having to make a public scandal for you,” he/she expressed.

The woman concluded her message by reiterating her hope of finding support so that her baby can access the medical procedure he needs.

So far, there is no official response available from the Presidency or the office of the first lady regarding the request described by Corporal.
