Movement Justice Jet Set calls for a March on Sunday, January 25th

Santo Domingo.- The Jet Set Justice Movement called on citizens to participate in the “March for Justice”, a mobilization that will take place on Sunday, January 25 in the city of Santo Domingo.

The activity is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, with the meeting point being the Juan Bosch metro station, located on 27 de Febrero avenue corner with Máximo Gómez, from where the protesters will demand justice, truth, and clear responsibilities for the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub on April 8, 2025.

The call arises to demand justice for the devastating toll of 236 people who died, including clients, employees, and artists, as well as more than 180 people injured. Many of the survivors continue to face long physical rehabilitation processes and psychological trauma resulting from the event. The organizers of the march reiterated their call for the peaceful participation of the population, while insisting on the need for the case not to be forgotten and for justice to be guaranteed for the victims and their families.

It should be remembered that on Monday, January 12, the preliminary trial against the brothers Antonio and Maribel Espaillat López, owners of the Jet Set nightclub, began, who face charges of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the collapse of the establishment. Both the Public Ministry and the plaintiff parties requested that the defendants be sent to trial on the merits; however, the judge of the First Instruction Court of the National District decided to postpone the hearing of the process until next March 16, with the aim of continuing with the analysis of the file and the requests submitted.
