Santo Domingo,. – The political delegate before the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and member of the Political Directorate of the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP), Manuel Crespo, denounced today that, as a result of the serious economic situation that the Dominican Republic is going through, more than one million 500 thousand Dominicans have emigrated in search of better economic conditions in the four-year period 2020-2024.

“This data shows that Dominicans are living a terrifying and chilling reality under the misgovernment of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), it is the worst crisis in Republican history,” said the former Minister of Youth in a document.

These are official statistics for the year 2024, released in July by the Instituto de Dominicanos y Dominicanas en el Exterior, a direct dependency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREC), it assured. Crespo recalled that from the founding of the Republic until 2020, the number of Dominicans who had left the country amounted to one million 340 thousand people, compared to the figure given from July 2020 to 2024 which increased to more than two million 874 thousand people. “In those four years, the number of Dominicans who have left the country in search of a better life for their families, desperate due to the economic situation, has increased to more than one million 525 thousand Dominicans; and the figures for 2025 are not included there, because it is no secret to anyone that the exodus has been greater from 2024 to 2025,” he assured.
