New York.- The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, will deliver his speech this Wednesday, September 24, before the General Assembly of the United Nations, scheduled for 2:50 in the afternoon. The President’s intervention will take place within the framework of the 80th session of the General Assembly, whose general debate began this Tuesday with the participation of various international leaders.
As part of his agenda, the Dominican president has held bilateral meetings, including with the King of Jordan and with the leadership of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, FAO.
The president will present the vision and proposals of the Dominican Republic in the face of the great challenges facing humanity. In addition, he will talk about the sociopolitical crisis affecting Haiti and its effects on the Dominican Republic.
The president has announced that he will reiterate the urgency of the international community’s intervention in Haiti, promoting a definitive solution and facilitating a diplomatic transition.
After concluding his participation, the Dominican president will return to the country on Wednesday, September 24th.
It is recalled that in 2024, at the seventy-ninth General Assembly, Abinader reiterated to the international community that the stabilization of Haiti is “a strategic necessity for security in my country and throughout the region.”
Under the motto “Better Together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights”, the Assembly will discuss urgent issues such as the war between Russia and Ukraine, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, climate change and the Sustainable Development Goals.
