Santo Domingo.- In the framework of the Reforestation Month, the National Environmental Protection Service (SENPA) carried out a planting day in the community of Los Tablones, San Luis, in the province of Santo Domingo Este. The initiative was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the San Miguel Arcángel Educational Center of the Dominican Republic Army.
During the activity, 800 mara seedlings were planted, a native species of high ecological value, as part of the institutional commitment to the restoration of hydrographic basins and the protection of water sources.
The event was attended by Elías Figuereo, National Director of Reforestation; Licenciado Joel Feliz Ledesma, Provincial Director of the Ministry of Environment; Colonel Rodríguez Burgos, ERD, SENPA advisor; and Colonel Norman Tupete, ERD, regent director of the educational center, along with members of the SENPA’s Plana Mayor and invited students.
In his words of motivation, the general director of SENPA expressed: “Planting a tree is a declaration of principles: it is to believe in the future, protect our water sources and honor the land that sustains us.”
The active participation of the students was highlighted as a symbol of hope and renewal: “You represent the new generation of environmental guardians. This day allows you to connect the uniform with nature, duty with life,” it was stated during the event.
The SENPA reiterated its commitment to the multidimensional security of the State, integrating the protection of natural resources as an essential part of its mission. Likewise, the collaboration between Environment, the Armed Forces and the education system was recognized as a model of legitimacy, ethics and collective vision.
The day concluded with a call to continue planting roots of respect, leaves of awareness, and fruits of well-being for future generations.
