Specialists from Ney Arias Lora Hospital present research in arthroscopy and sports medicine

SANTO DOMINGO.- Specialists from the Dr. Ney Arias Lora University Teaching Traumatology Hospital presented the thesis on arthroscopy and sports medicine during the thesis presentation of the fellows of this subspecialty, corresponding to the first and second promotion, in an academic conference that marked a milestone in the specialized medical training of the country. The director of the health center, doctor Víctor Rosario Suazo, expressed his deep gratitude to all the doctors, teachers, and health professionals who made possible the presentation of theses of the first graduating classes of the Subspecialty of Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine, highlighting the collective effort and the commitment to academic excellence that characterizes the institution.

Likewise, he valued the impact of this initiative on the training of highly qualified specialists, highlighting that the Ney Arias Lora Hospital continues to consolidate itself as a national reference in teaching, research, and specialized care. Rosario highlighted that this initiative was promoted by Dr. Julio Landrón, former director of the Ney Arias Lora Hospital and current executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), as part of the strengthening of continuing medical education in the center.

“This type of activities strengthen our mission to train doctors with a high scientific and human level, for the benefit of the health system and Dominican patients,” he/she pointed out.

During the event, four orthopedic doctors were promoted as new members of the Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Chapter of the Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital. The promoted individuals correspond to the 2021-2023 promotion, doctors Fernando Pujols and Melvin Casado, as well as to the 2023-2025 promotion, doctors Julio Ortiz and Bueno Medina. The conference was attended by Dr. Andy de León, president of the Dominican Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Dr. María Rodríguez, president of the Arthroscopy Chapter; Dr. Carlos Ricardo; current fellow coordinator; Dr. José Luis Díaz, former program coordinator and Martha Landa, anesthesiologist, who is a methodological advisor. Also, Dr. Rudolf Fermín, Head of Teaching; Jefrey Torres, Orthopedics Manager; and Dr. Lizardi, Spine Fellow Coordinator, along with other members of the medical staff, participated. During the event, Dr. Andy de León, president of the Dominican Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, highlighted the importance of this academic initiative and extended a special invitation to support the start of the Scientific Thursdays, which formally mark the activities of the Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Chapter and the Shoulder and Elbow Committee. The director of the health center, doctor Víctor Rosario Suazo, thanked the specialist doctors, teachers and support staff who made the academic day possible, highlighting the commitment and dedication demonstrated in the development of the research presented.
