Truck driver who caused accident in Veron would have been drunk

LA ALTAGRACIA. – The driver of the garbage truck that hit a van and caused the death of six people and injuries to another 19 in the community of La Ceiba del Salado, Verón, had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. According to a study conducted on the driver, identified as José Laurencio, 58 years old, he was intoxicated and is currently detained at the local detachment.

Witnesses to the event said that the vehicle was driven at high speed, which would have contributed to the magnitude of the impact. The truck involved in the tragedy allegedly belongs to the company Crozier SRL, which operates in the tourist area, according to preliminary information.
