Santo Domingo.— The fire of a fuel tanker truck that occurred this Monday morning on George Washington Avenue, in the National District, left two people dead, reported the National Emergency and Security Attention System 9-1-1.
Preliminarily, the victims are believed to be the vehicle’s driver and his assistant, who were on board the tanker at the time the fire occurred.

The emergency call was received by 9-1-1 at 6:56 in the morning, after which response agencies were immediately activated to address the situation and control the fire.
At the scene, 11 units of the National District Fire Department, two health units, four from the National Police, one unit from the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (DIGESETT), one from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), and personnel from the Emergency Operations Center (COE) were deployed.

As part of the operation, the 9-1-1 System also used drones equipped with thermal cameras, with the goal of obtaining real-time images of the affected area, assessing the fire conditions, and facilitating the coordination of the deployed teams.
Firefighters continued working to completely extinguish the flames and secure the area, while other agencies intervened in managing the scene and regulating traffic on this important stretch of the capital.
The authorities are continuing emergency operations and the corresponding investigations to determine the circumstances under which the fire occurred and to officially establish the identity of the two deceased individuals.
