Vinicio Castillo describes Haiti’s measure as hostile

Vinicio Castillo Semán, former deputy and leader of the National Progressive Force (FNP), described this Thursday as a hostile act the decision by the Haitian Foreign Ministry to summon the Dominican Republic’s ambassador to that country, following allegations of supposed incursions by Dominican Army patrols into Haitian territory.
Castillo Semán questioned the diplomatic measure and considered that it represents a sign of hostility towards the Dominican Republic, especially at a time when Haiti is facing a complex situation of insecurity.
The political leader maintained that the summons of the Dominican diplomatic representative is questionable in light of the efforts that, as he highlighted, the government of President Luis Abinader has made to promote an international response to the Haitian crisis.
Vinicio Castillo questions the Haitian Foreign Ministry’s decision
The former legislator expressed his disagreement with the actions of the Haitian authorities, who reportedly summoned the Dominican ambassador to address complaints related to the presence of Dominican military patrols in Haitian territory.
In Castillo Semán’s view, the decision constitutes a gesture of diplomatic confrontation that does not correspond with the position assumed by the Dominican Republic regarding the problems affecting the neighboring country.
The FNP leader considered that the Haitian authorities should take into account the efforts made by the Dominican Government before the international community.
The alleged military incursions that prompted the diplomatic summons have not been independently verified with the information available.
Points to worsening security crisis in Haiti
Castillo Semán also referred to the deterioration of security in Haiti and mentioned the alleged kidnapping of four Salvadoran soldiers, attributed to criminal gangs, as an example of the gravity of the situation.
The former deputy questioned that, in that context, the Haitian Foreign Ministry decided to adopt a diplomatic measure against the Dominican Republic.
His approach comes amid concerns about border security and bilateral relations between both countries.
The political leader maintained that the Haitian crisis requires greater attention from the international community, rather than actions that, from his perspective, could generate tensions with the Dominican Republic.
Highlights the actions of Luis Abinader’s government
The representative of the National Progressive Force defended the diplomatic efforts made by President Luis Abinader to promote greater international participation in the search for solutions to the crisis in Haiti.
Castillo Semán considered that these efforts should be taken into account when evaluating the relations between both nations.
The former deputy’s position reflects his rejection of the summons of the Dominican ambassador, an action he interprets as a sign of hostility on the part of the Haitian authorities.
However, summoning an ambassador constitutes a diplomatic mechanism that can be used to request explanations or convey official concerns, without it implying a rupture of relations in itself.
So far, the information provided does not include an official response from the Dominican Foreign Ministry regarding the accusation, nor additional details from the Haitian authorities about the alleged incursions.
