The National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (Promipyme) delivered RD$100 million pesos this Thursday to 400 micro-entrepreneurs, intended to strengthen the productive activities of micro-entrepreneurs in the municipality of Río San Juan.
The event was led by the general director of Promipyme, Fabricio Gómez Mazara.
During the keynote remarks of the event, Gómez Mazara expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out by his team of collaborators at the institution, highlighting that they work with the goal of strengthening micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
Likewise, he highlighted the economic and productive potential of the Río San Juan municipality, as well as the importance of continuing to bring financing opportunities closer to entrepreneurs and small business owners, with the purpose of boosting local development and improving the quality of life for families.
The general director recalled that 64 percent of these loans are intended for women. During his speech, Fabricio Gómez Mazara highlighted the capacity of President Luis Abinader’s government to maintain the country’s economic stability and growth, even in the midst of a complex international scenario.
Gómez Mazara recalled that the current administration took office in 2020 in a context marked by the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and noted that, since then, the Dominican economy has faced significant external challenges, such as the impact of rising oil prices and the consequences of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
However, he stated that, under the leadership of President Abinader, the Dominican Republic has managed to maintain economic growth, generate jobs, and reduce poverty levels.
“It is easy to manage the economy when everything is going well; what is truly difficult is sustaining growth in the midst of international crises. That has been one of President Luis Abinader’s main achievements,” stated Gómez Mazara.
