THE CARTOON: Frozen rate, boiling bill

The Government claims that electricity rates have remained frozen since 2022, but many Dominicans feel that their bills are on fire.
The Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, explained that an increase of just 10% in consumption can cause the amount to be paid to soar by between 30% and 40%, when the user moves into a higher tariff bracket.
And there is the contradiction that portrays our cartoon today: while the authorities talk about frozen rates and millionaire subsidies, citizens remain concerned about the impact of the electrical service on their pockets.
Because in the end, what matters is not how much the Government says electricity costs, but how much each family has to pay.
