Miami.- Within the framework of the Barranquilla Carnival celebration, the legendary Grupo Niche presents its new single “Barranquilla está de Moda”, a composition by José Aguirre that exalts the spirit, joy and strength of one of the most emblematic cities in Colombia. With a contagious melody, festive choruses, and a deeply emotional narrative, the song portrays Grupo Niche’s experience upon arriving in Barranquilla and visiting its most representative places. From the Magdalena River and Bocas de Ceniza to the Gran Malecón, the Metropolitan Stadium, and Barrio Abajo, with nods to emblematic expressions of the Carnival such as La Guacherna, the traditional night parade that kicks off the festivities, the song transforms into a musical journey through Barranquilla’s identity. BARRANQUILLA IS TRENDY “Barranquilla está de Moda” is a declaration of love for La Arenosa, its people, and its growth. Through verses loaded with feeling and pride, the band thanks for the affection it has historically received in the city and exalts the joyful, hardworking, and visionary character of the people of Barranquilla.
The single premiered live on Saturday, January 17, 2026, during the Reading of the Carnival Proclamation of Barranquilla 2026, at the Romelio Martínez Stadium, an event that marked the official start of the festival. The song thus joins Grupo Niche’s repertoire as a celebration anthem, connecting the salsa tradition with the vibrant energy of the Carnival and reaffirming the deep bond between the group and Barranquilla, a fundamental place in its artistic history.“It’s a tribute to the city, its progress, its people, and the emotion we feel every time we arrive in Barranquilla,” says the group.
