After ten years without a new film in the main saga, Ice Age will return to theaters. Disney and 20th Century Animation released the first official teaser this June 4th for Ice Age 6: Lava World, the next installment of the animated franchise that will reunite Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Buck, and Scrat.
The teaser confirms that the film will hit theaters in February 2027. This is the first cinematic production of the franchise since Ice Age: Collision Course, released in 2016.
The title Boiling Point (Punto de ebullición in English) or Lava World offers a clue about the movie’s main setting. On this occasion, the herd will leave behind the icy landscapes to enter areas dominated by volcanic activity.
Disney announced that Manny, Sid, Diego, and their companions will travel to never-before-seen corners of the Lost World. There, they will encounter enormous prehistoric creatures and a series of threats related to eruptions, lava, and unstable terrain.

The first teaser for Ice Age 6 shows the protagonists fleeing from a powerful volcanic eruption.
What does the first teaser show?
The teaser begins with Scrat, the popular saber-toothed squirrel, who appears propelled through the air while the tip of his tail is on fire. As happened in previous films, his obsession with the acorn is once again part of the story.
Behind him appear Manny, Ellie, Sid, Diego, Buck, Crash and Eddie. They all try to escape from a volcanic eruption while large fragments of ice are sent flying through the air.

The slow-motion sequence includes several comedic shots: Sid accidentally swallows a bee and ends up crashing into Diego. Later on, a hot rock burns part of Ellie’s fur. Buck takes advantage of the situation to cook a grub on her head, while Crash and Eddie take more hits during the escape.
The final sequence reintroduces Baby Scrat, a character who first appeared in the Disney+ series Ice Age: Scrat Tales. The little one is launched from the volcano with a tiny acorn in its mouth.
Ice Age 6: Lava World brings back the original English voice cast. Ray Romano will return to voice Manny. John Leguizamo will reprise the character of Sid, while Denis Leary will return as Diego. Queen Latifah as Ellie and Simon Pegg as Buck will also participate once again.
A franchise with more than two decades of history
Ice Age debuted in theaters in 2002. The original film grossed approximately 383 million dollars at the worldwide box office and earned an Oscar nomination in the Best Animated Feature category.
The success gave rise to several sequels. Among them, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009) stood out, which reached nearly 886 million dollars at the global box office and continues to be the most successful installment of the franchise.

Ice Age 6: Boiling Point will be released exclusively in theaters on February 5, 2027. The film is directed by John Donkin and produced by Lori Forte.
