Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) alerts the public about the unauthorized use of drones in the vicinity of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, where a high-attendance concert is being held this weekend.
The general director of IDAC, Igor Rodríguez Durán, urged all those interested in flying drones to strictly comply with the provisions established in the Dominican Aeronautical Regulation RAD 107, a regulation that governs the operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in national territory.
Rodríguez Durán explained that during mass events, the operation of drones without authorization can represent a significant risk to air safety and the integrity of attendees.
“Any unauthorized flight in densely populated areas or where mass activities are taking place endangers the airspace and the safety of everyone. We reiterate the importance of complying with the procedures and permits required by RAD 107,” he expressed.
The institution reminded that RAD 107 establishes obligations such as the registration of the operator and the drone, the prior request for permits for flights in urban areas or near crowds, respect for restricted areas and height limits, as well as the obligation to maintain visual contact with the aircraft at all times.
