Santo Domingo, RD.- Producer Rafael Pina, artistically known as Raphy Pina, dedicated a heartfelt birthday message to Mireddys González, ex-wife of singer and composer Daddy Yankee, through a story published on his social media. Pina shared a photograph in which she appears with Mireddys and Jasselys, the daughter she had with the performer of “Gasolina”, accompanying the image with the message: “Happy birthday to a brave being. It should be remembered that in November 2025, Daddy Yankee, along with his company “El Cartel Records”, filed a federal lawsuit against Raphy Pina and his then-wife, accusing them of having operated for more than a decade a scheme to illegally appropriate royalties and publishing rights of dozens of songs by the artist and other exponents of the urban genre. The legal resource alleges that Pina and Mireddys violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), as well as the Law Against Organized Crime of Puerto Rico. According to the lawsuit, in early 2025 anomalies were detected in the catalog of Daddy Yankee’s compositions, which led to an internal investigation that revealed a prolonged pattern of irregularities.

After learning about the lawsuit, Raphy Pina reacted publicly with an extensive post on his Instagram account, in which he assured that his silence should not be interpreted as fear nor his serenity as weakness. In addition, he affirmed to deeply respect the artistic figure of Daddy Yankee, whom he described as a legend, although he hinted that his personal relationship with Ramón Ayala, the man behind the icon, is different from the public perception.

“Do not confuse my silence with fear, nor my peace with weakness. I do not play at destroying what I built, nor do I need to invent stories to justify my decisions. Daddy Yankee, the legend, will always have our respect; that man opened paths and left a legacy that no one can deny. But Ramón Ayala is another thing. The history we lived without cameras, without networks and without stories says exactly who he was in his career: producer, partner, manager, strategist, friend… That is why it is surprising that spiritual discourses are used to justify acts that reflect the opposite of walking hand in hand with God,” wrote Pina.
