North Carolina.- U.S. authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred at a home in Caswell County, North Carolina, which left three people dead, including the alleged shooter, in addition to another victim who remains hospitalized.
The incident was recorded on Wednesday morning at a residence located in the Prospect Hill community, where Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived after receiving an emergency call regarding gunfire. Upon arriving at the scene, they found four adults with gunshot wounds. Three of them were declared dead at the scene, while the survivor was transported to Duke University Hospital to receive medical attention.
According to Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden, all individuals involved belonged to the same family. Authorities indicated that, based on initial investigations, the case is considered an isolated incident and ruled out any risk to the community.
The investigation was placed under the charge of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), whose specialists are collecting evidence and conducting interviews to clarify the sequence of events and determine the motive for the attack. So far, the identities of the victims have not been released, pending official notification of their next of kin.
Sheriff Durden explained that there were no prior records of police interventions related to that family and noted that investigators continue to “piece together” what triggered the violent episode.
