Biden condemns the U.S. Government’s “attack” on its own citizens in Minneapolis
Former United States President Joe Biden condemned this Tuesday what he called attacks by the Government against its own citizens, referring to the death of two protesters at the hands of federal agents during the protests against immigration raids in Minneapolis (Minnesota).
Biden (2021-2025) thus joined the condemnations expressed in recent days by former Democratic presidents Barack Obama (2009-2017) and Bill Clinton (1993-2001).You may be interested in: Ivanka Trump will testify in the fraud trial in the Trump Organization
“We are not a nation that guns down its citizens in the street. We are not a nation that allows our citizens to be brutalized for exercising their constitutional rights”, he wrote in a statement. Biden stressed that “the people of Minnesota have stood firm, helping the community in unimaginable circumstances, denouncing injustice when they see it and demanding accountability” from the Donald Trump Administration. “Violence and terrorism have no place in the United States, especially when it is our own government that attacks American citizens,” he declared. The death of Alex Pretti last Saturday, the second of a protester in Minneapolis after that of Renée Good on January 7, has generated a wave of outrage in the country that has forced the White House to readjust the operation. Trump announced on Monday the dispatch to the area of his ‘czar’ for the border, Tom Homan, relieving the leader of the Border Patrol, Greg Bovino, who had become the face of the aggressive raids in the city and the repression against the protesters who protest against those operations. Biden demanded in his statement “thorough, fair, and transparent investigations into the deaths of the two Americans who lost their lives in the city they considered their home.”#Most read
