Carlos III will receive leaders from several European countries next Tuesday before their participation the following day in the Western Balkans summit in London, which will address cooperation with the region within the so-called Berlin Process.
The sovereign will act as host at the London St. James’s Palace of the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, and the leaders of the six Western Balkan countries -Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia-, Buckingham Palace indicated in a statement.
Representatives from community institutions and leaders from other European states attending the summit will also participate: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, and Slovenia.
According to the palace, artists and promoters of the cultural economy of the region will also be invited.
Founded in 2014 by Germany, the Berlin Process is a platform that brings together the Governments of the six Western Balkan countries with European partners with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation, supporting economic development and accelerating European integration.
In addition to political meetings, business forums and civil society events, youth participation and gender equality are held.
On Wednesday, Starmer will preside over the 12th summit of heads of state and government of the Western Balkans and their European partners in London, which seeks to strengthen collaboration on security and the fight against illegal immigration.
This quote will culminate a series of previous ministerial meetings, as there was one of Interior ministers on October 15 in London and another of Foreign ministers on October 9 in Belfast (Northern Ireland).

This year 2025 coincides with several key anniversaries for the region, as it marks 30 years since the Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the Bosnian war, and 30 years since the Srebrenica genocide.
It is also 50 years since the Helsinki Final Act, which promoted cooperation and human rights in Europe during the Cold War; and 80 years since the end of World War II and the founding of the UN.
