Santo Domingo.– The governments of the Dominican Republic and Haiti expressed their interest in moving towards the restoration of Dominican consular operations in Haiti, in Haiti, once the necessary security conditions exist to guarantee their proper functioning.
The topic was addressed during a bilateral meeting in which the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Haiti, Raina Forbin, participated.
Both parties analyzed the possibility of normalizing Dominican consular services in Haitian territory as soon as possible, conditioned on the security situation allowing for the corresponding work to be carried out in each jurisdiction.

The eventual restoration of Dominican consular operations in Haiti was part of a broader agenda of talks between the delegations of both countries.
During the meeting, issues related to border security, migratory flows, and trade relations between the Dominican Republic and Haiti were also addressed.

Likewise, the delegations discussed investment opportunities, air connectivity, and mechanisms to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
