The billionaire Elon Musk officially resigned from his position as a special employee of the U.S. Government, after having diminished his collaboration with the Administration.

“As my scheduled time as a special government employee comes to an end, I’d like to thank President [Donald Trump] for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk wrote on his X account. “The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGEwill only get stronger over time as it becomes a way of life throughout Government,” he added.

Since April, Musk stopped working physically at the White House. He stopped attending in-person meetings, including meetings in the Oval Office and trips on Air Force One, although he continued to collaborate with President Donald Trump’s government remotely.

During the time he worked on a part-time basis with the Government, the tech magnate said he would focus more on his work at Tesla. However, due to the legal limit of 130 days consecutive in his position, the formal status as a special employee could only be extended until the end of May.
